Using laser metrology, SCM has developed a system to measure the 3D profiles of large gears for the mining industry. This gives the user an extremely quick non-contact repeatable scan of the exact profile of the gear. 

With an overlay function the user is able to compare the scan to historical scan data to be able to trend wear rates and thus aid predictive maintenance and overall machine health monitoring.
